Wheelset is the core power transmission component of rail transit vehicles (subways, trains, trams) and some industrial equipment (mining trucks, port cranes, heavy forklifts). It is composed of two wheels + an axle and is permanently assembled through interference fit or hot-fitting process. It undertakes the following key functions:

Support load: bear the entire weight of the vehicle/equipment (such as subway wheelsets need to carry 15-30 tons/axle)
Transmit power: convert traction motor or engine torque into linear motion
Guide driving: control the running direction through the contact between the wheel flange and the track/ground
Absorb shock: buffer the vibration caused by uneven track or complex terrain
Analogy: The wheelset is equivalent to the “two legs + joints” of a car, which must support the weight (load), achieve walking (transmission), and maintain balance (guidance).
